About Me
Hi! My name is Katie Hayden. I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and I am still here today.
I would consider myself to be an outgoing, outdoorsy, curious person with a passion for living a fulfilling and rewarding life through my career pursuits and my hobbies. I love to surf, ski, hike, try new restaurants, travel, and spend quality time with my friends and family.

I am an economics major with minors in global health and digital humanities at the University of California, Los Angeles. Upon graduation, I will be moving to the Bay Area to embark on a career in Commercial Real Estate. I ultimately hope to dedicate my career to affordable housing/ addressing the growing issue of houselessness in California. I have always had an interest in this topic and I have dedicated a lot of my professional and educational studies to build a solid groundwork to help me get there.

As a Digital Humanities minor, I found it important to create a space for the work I have created on a Digital Portfolio. I hope you enjoy learning about all of the things I find fascinating!

WHAT I DO
inside & out of the classroom
DH & GH SPECIALIST
With minors in global health and digital humanities, I am able to diversify my studies and apply econ to practices that I am really passionate about. My work and studies in global health have really sparked my interest in not-for-profit work, where I hope to end up one day. Additionally, DH has helped me grow so much as a professional and has taught me the wonders of data science.
ECONOMICS STUDENT
They always say you will change your major 2-3 times...but I stuck with econ since fall quarter freshman year. Econ pushed me to be constantly using my math skills, understand large macro trends, and learn how to read econometrics data and apply it to investments. I particularly loved my course in social entrepreneurship (Econ 173 A/B) where we got to see what working with non-profits was like firsthand.
RESEARCHER & ANALYST
After freshman year, I was ready to devote more time to work out of the classroom. I joined a consulting club, a student wellness organization, took a fundraising position in my sorority, and eventually joined the real estate association as well. Through my time in all of these orgs and the work I do now, I found myself on a near-constant research and analytics grind. Research can be really fascinating to me, because I love working with statistics and taking away key insights.
